Preschool Lesson - Safari Theme Intro.

~Morning prep time~
~ Where does it bee-long? p. 6, Mailbox Preschool Aug./Sept. 2007 - Items from various centers are placed in a bucket.  Ask the children, "Busy little bees, where does this belong?"  Child who guesses gets to "buzz" the item back to its home.

~ Beginning of year measurement of each child to use throughout the year in various activities and for end of year "See How I've Grown" booklet - Take a head shot and body-length picture of each child, measure height and weight, trace hands.

~ Animal Bingo

M - F ~ Guess Who?:
Each day, put one student's name (mixed-up) on a magnetic surface using magnetic letters.  Have the students see if they can figure out who's name it is before Morning Meeting/Circle Time.  Once someone guesses the correct answer, have that student come up and put the letters in the correct order.  Then use their name to reinforce letter identification.

M ~ Rubbings Walk - Take a walk allowing the children to collect any (safe) natural objects to create rubbings with.  Label.  Glue into a booklet for child to take home.
T ~ Create class book based on Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See?
W ~ Memory game: match animal with reason for keeping Kapok tree.
Th ~ Make bees out of Styrofoam balls to hang at the beehive corner.
F ~ Spray tie-dye class shirts, using hands as stencils.
10:00 - 10:45

Outside Play (Large motor act. indoors in bad weather) - one organized activity will be offered along with plenty of time for free play
