Chant this rhyme to any group of preschoolers to have them burning off energy! I've had children play this for 15 minutes straight without getting bored. Sometimes, it's the simplest of things! You can change the children's actions. Instead of run (around the Oak tree), you could use jump, hop, skip, crawl, slither, fly, walk backwards, walk slowly, or whatever else you can think of. Of course, you can also change the name of whatever they run around; the sandbox, the Maple tree, the flag pole. We just always use the Oak tree for some reason. You could even use different trees so the children learn the names of each. Here's how we play:
