This time of year malls and shopping centers are filled with parents searching for toys and other gifts for the holidays. Some folks show up early and spend time waiting in long lines for bargains and special deals. Many times parents forget the importance of simply spending time with their child. I think raising our children has been the single most important thing my husband and I have accomplished in our lives.

     Any time spent with a child is never a waste of time. Today’s busy parents believe one needs to be "doing" something with children, or "going" somewhere.  The best days for young children (and older ones too) are hours spent just being together. Playing a board game, taking a walk, or watching a movie together are excellent ways to bond with older children. Listening to their hopes and dreams or just hearing about the latest happenings in the lunch room are great ways to share with a young child.

     Many parents today think about buying a new toy or going on a trip as a way to get closer to their children and show their love. I think the everyday ways of giving your time to your children is the most important thing any parent can do. We all seem to find time for the things we really love....And since I really Love my children...I try to give them the gift of my time spent with them!
